Code of Conduct

​Purpose and Commitment

At The Nest Wellness Studio, we are dedicated to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all students, teachers, and staff.


This Code of Conduct outlines the shared standards that help us uphold respect, integrity, and professionalism within our community.

By participating in classes, workshops, or events at The Nest, all individuals agree to follow these guidelines.

 

1. Definitions

  • Studio Community: All individuals who participate in studio activities, including students, teachers, staff, and guests.

  • Harassment: Any unwanted physical, verbal, or non-verbal behavior that creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment.

  • Boundaries: The physical, emotional, and professional limits that define appropriate and respectful interactions between individuals.

  • Sexual Misconduct: Any behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome, coercive, exploitative, or violates professional or personal boundaries.

  • Consent: A clear, informed, and freely given agreement to participate in an interaction or activity. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

  • Teacher: Any instructor, trainer, or facilitator leading or assisting in classes, workshops, or training.

  • Student: Any individual participating in classes, workshops, or training at the studio.

2. Respect for Others

  • Treat all members of the studio community with kindness, empathy, and consideration.

  • Respect the diversity of our community, including differences in body, ability, background, gender identity, and belief.

  • Maintain a peaceful environment: keep noise to a minimum, silence phones, and use respectful language.

  • Avoid gossip, judgment, or negative speech about others.
     

 

3. Respect for Teachers and Safe Practice

  • Follow your teacher’s guidance while practicing within your own physical limits.

  • Inform your teacher before class of any injuries, health conditions, or concerns that may affect your practice.

  • Teachers may offer modifications or alternatives to ensure your safety and comfort.

  • Always listen to your body and rest when needed.

 

4. Anti-Harassment and Respecting Boundaries Policy

 

Our Commitment

The Nest Wellness Studio is committed to maintaining a space where all individuals feel respected, valued, and safe. Harassment, boundary violations, or any form of coercive behavior will not be tolerated.

Respecting Boundaries

  • Everyone’s personal, emotional, and physical boundaries must be respected at all times.

  • Respect verbal and non-verbal cues that someone does not wish to engage or interact further.

  • Do not pressure others into participation, conversation, or physical touch.

  • Teachers are responsible for modeling and upholding healthy boundaries with students.

  • Breaching someone’s boundaries, even unintentionally, should be acknowledged, apologised for, and corrected immediately.
     

Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Unwelcome physical contact, including touching, or hugging

  • Offensive or suggestive language or jokes

  • Verbal, visual, or written communication that demeans or sexualises another person

  • Bullying, intimidation, or coercive behavior

  • Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern

  • Persistent attention or contact after someone has indicated disinterest or discomfort
     

Reporting and Response

  • If you experience or witness harassment or a boundary violation, report it immediately to a teacher or email hello@thenesthinckley.co.uk to speak to Emily & Cain.

  • Reports may be made verbally or in writing and will be handled confidentially and respectfully.

  • The studio will investigate all complaints promptly and fairly.

  • Consequences may include warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the studio community, depending on the severity of the incident.
     

 

5. Sexual Misconduct Policy

Zero Tolerance

The Nest Wellness Studio maintains a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct or exploitation of any kind.
This includes:

  • Unwelcome sexual advances or requests

  • Sexual comments, jokes, or gestures

  • Inappropriate physical touch or adjustments

  • Using authority or mentorship for personal or sexual gain
     

Consequences

Individuals found to have engaged in sexual misconduct will face immediate disciplinary action, including suspension, termination, or permanent exclusion from the studio.
In serious cases, matters may be referred to legal authorities.

 

6. Student–Teacher Relationships

Boundaries and Professional Ethics

  • Teachers hold a position of trust, authority, and influence. They must uphold professional integrity at all times.

  • Teachers must never use their authority, mentorship, or influence to pursue personal or romantic interests.
     

 

7. Care for the Studio Space

  • Treat the studio and its equipment (mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, etc.) with mindfulness and respect.

  • Return all props neatly after use.

  • Keep the studio clean, quiet, and free of strong scents or distractions.

  • Remove shoes before entering the practice area.

  • Leave the space as you found it, calm, tidy, and welcoming for all.
     

 

8. Arrival and Timeliness

  • Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before class begins and be ready to start on time.

  • If you need to leave early, inform the teacher before class and exit quietly.
     

 

9. Accountability and Enforcement

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Verbal or written warnings

  • Temporary suspension from classes or events

  • Termination of membership or teaching contract

  • Referral to external authorities when appropriate
     

All actions will be taken with fairness, discretion, and confidentiality.

 

10. Our Shared Intention

Yoga is a practice of awareness, compassion, and respect.
By upholding this Code of Conduct, we protect the integrity of our practice and ensure that The Nest Wellness Studio remains a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space for everyone.
